Dr. Abbey is a Ghanaian Research Scientist with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) since September, 1983 – 2016. Currently a Principal Research Scientist and a Senior Lecturer of CSIR College of Science and Technology (2017- up to date)

With a background in Biochemist/ Food Technologist I was the Quality Manager of the South Africa National Accreditation System (SANAS) accredited Laboratory Methods of the Food Research Institute (CSIR).

Having a vast worth of professional expertise I was able to attract, lead and execute a number of foreign funded projects to the Institute.   Just to mention a few, these included acting as a Project Leader in the underlisted projects:

  1. Developing of low cost nutrient dense fish products based on low value fish and fish byproducts. FAO/CSIR-Food Research Institute Project (2015)
  2. Improving Food Security by Reducing Post Harvest Losses in the Fisheries Sector (SECUREFISH) EU PROJECT NO. EC FP7 289282 2012-2015
  • Project Leader. Improving the utilisation and quality of low value fish by processing. European Union (EU) for this project (INCO-DEV Project No. INCO-DEV ICA4-CT-2001-10032).
