Professor Paa-Nii Torgbor Johnson is a Full Professor in Food Science and Technology of the Department of Agro-processing Technology and Food Biosciences, CSIR College of Science and Technology (currently affiliated with the University of Cape Coast and University of Mines and Technology) and the Coordinator of the Quality Assurance Unit of the CSIR College of Science and Technology. He is currently the Interim President of the Ghana Association of Food Scientists and Technologists. He is also a former Chief Research Scientist of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research as well as a former Ag. Director of the CSIR-Food Research Institute (2009-2011). He has also worked for the Departments of Nutrition and Food Science as well as the Department of Crop Science, University of Ghana since 1997, as a part-time lecturer. His specialization is in applied research in food processing, safety, food product development, post-harvest technology and food security, as well as quality assurance (especially related to ISO 17025). He has served as an International Consultant in Food Systems for several United Nations organizations- FAO, UNIDO, UNICEF, WFP, WHO and AfricaRice. He has also been a national consultant in new industrial food product development and served as consultant for national offices of GIZ and FDA of Ghana. He has served on the Governing Board of the Food and Drugs Authority of Ghana (2009-2012) and has been involved in coordinating several national agricultural programs (AgSSIP, WAAPP and MAG). Additionally, he has  several years of experience in professional and national committees such as the Ghana Science Association (National Vice President: 1997 – 2001), International Food Technologists (IFT of USA , 1995 -2000), National Codex Committee of Ghana hosted by the Ghana Standards Authority (2003 – 2012), International Society of Tropical Root Crops (since 2005), member of the Drafting Committee of the Tree Crops Development of Ghana (2017-2020), Chamber of Agribusiness (Senior Advisor, Research and Development, since 2018). He has been engaged for several years in several international collaborative research and developments project with foreign universities and research organizations, such as the Natural Resources Institute of University of Greenwich, UK. where he served as Visiting Professor (2008 -2012) and Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, University of Milan, Italy (2010-2015). He has considerable university teaching experience (at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels) since 1996; supervisor of several research students (at BSc, MPhil and PhD levels) and assessor of several research reports papers and promotion documents of senior members from Ghana and West Africa. He has over 400 international publications to his credit.
